Update to Best Management Practices for Recycling Facilities During COVID-19

Friday, December 18, 2020
1:00 pm to 2:30 pm EST

Do you have questions or concerns about how your municipality can continue to operate its essential trash and recycling services as safely as possible during the COVID-19 pandemic, especially during the recent surge in cases?

Join the recycling nonprofit Northeast Resource Recovery Association (NRRA) and Dr. Ben Locwin, an expert on infectious disease epidemiology, for a much-anticipated second webinar to discuss COVID-19 best management practices for recycling and solid waste facilities.

The webinar will be held on Friday, December 18 from 1 to 2:30 pm EST.  This webinar is FREE and open to all.

Dr. Locwin will present on issues that are top of mind during the spike in COVID-19 cases, including the status of developing a vaccine, the best types of masks based on scientific studies, what we know about surface transmission, and how to effectively ventilate buildings and vehicles as we approach winter.

Following his presentation, Dr. Locwin will answer attendee questions submitted in advance of the webinar, then answer attendee questions live as time allows.  He will be joined by NRRA Executive Director Reagan Bissonnette and Member Services Manager Bonnie Bethune for this conversation.

Original Webinar: Best Management Practices for Recycling Facilities During COVID-19

On April 15, 2020, NRRA Dr. Locwin joined NRRA Executive Director Reagan Bissonnette and Member Services Manager Bonnie Bethune to answer questions from participants live about how to safely recycle during the pandemic.  The webinar provided a clear explanation of best practices for managing trash and recycling with potential COVID-19 contamination, plus practical and actionable steps to protect solid waste operators and residents.  Over 300 people participated in this informative webinar, and more than 250 watched the recording afterwards.

NRRA staff recently confirmed with Dr. Locwin that the guidance given in this original webinar is still accurate and relevant today.  Attendees are encouraged to watch the April 15 webinar or view the written summary of the webinar prior to the Dec. 18 webinar, as the sequel webinar will present updated information and not simply be a repeat of the original webinar.
