Specification Sheet - Commingled Containers

Commingle Containers

Oftentimes recycling programs find collecting commingled (mixed) containers for recycling both efficient and cost-effective. Once these materials are collected, they are transported to a Material Recovery Facility (also known as a “MRF”) where they are separated and processed before being sent to a re-manufacturing facility. Collecting commingled recyclables is easy and convenient for both the resident (since all containers go into one bin) and also for recycling attendants (since no time is spent baling and storing the containers).

  • Choose how the commingled containers will be collected and stored  (i.e., in a bunker, compactor or roll-off container)
  • Decide whether to include glass jars and bottles with commingled containers (NRRA can help determine closest vendor/costs)
  • Contact NRRA to coordinate pick up or delivery of the commingled containers to or from vendor
  • Contact NRRA at for details and pricing information
