Help Wanted: Transfer Station Facility Attendant, Moultonborough, NH - Full Time

Full-Time Transfer Station Facility Attendant: Duties include assisting users in proper disposal of solid waste materials and recyclables; operate forklift, skid steer, loader, and other equipment; clean, service and maintain fixed and moving equipment and physical plant. Preferred candidate will have mechanical abilities, knowledge of and ability to operate heavy equipment (forklift, loader, skid steer), ability to understand complex waste management regulations, exhibit tact and diplomacy in dealing with customers. Valid driver’s license, and current NHDES Level 1 Certification (or ability to obtain same w/in 12 months of hiring). An annual salary range commensurate with qualifications and experience.

GENERAL SUMMARY

Performs the routine daily operational duties of the resource recovery park and recycling facility in conformance with the Moultonborough Resource Recovery Park Waste Management Facility Ordinance. The Facility Attendant insures the orderly, safe and efficient use of the town transfer and recycling facility by residents and/or taxpayers.

 ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Coordinates and assists users in the proper separation and placement of materials in appropriate receptacles and/or areas.

  • Perform maintenance on equipment and machinery as directed by the Facility

  • Insures users of the facility have proper permits and have paid appropriate fees when required for disposal of appliances, tires, demolition and any other fees designated by the Board of

  • Operates facility equipment, as required, in daily waste management

  • Cleans, services and maintains equipment as

  • Maintains transfer station and recycling center in a clean, orderly and safe manner at all times.

  • Assures safety protocols to ensure the public’s

  • May act as the Facility Supervisor in his/her

  • Display tact and diplomacy in directing users of the

 OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs other duties as directed by the Facility Supervisor.

Performs other related duties as requested and can be assigned to other divisions within the department as needed.

 REQUIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience

High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

NH DES Solid Waste Operator and Weighmaster Certification within 1 year of hire. Valid Driver’s License required, current CDL desirable.

Or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills and ability.

 Preference given to those with experience.

 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of and the ability to operate and maintain all transfer station and recycling equipment.

  • Ability to read, learn, interpret, and enforce pertinent waste management regulations, ordinances and

  • Ability to operate all machinery and equipment in a safe and orderly

  • Possess a good understanding of the town waste management ordinance, NH DES regulations and must be able to advise users of separation and recycling

LICENSING AND CERTIFICATION

  • Must possess, and maintain, a current State of New Hampshire DES Solid Waste Operator certification level one (1) or higher and Weighmaster Certification or ability to obtain said certifications within one (1) year of

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

Loader, fork lift, balers, compactors, skid steer, snow plow truck, hand tools and other maintenance tools and equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

Heavy lifting/pushing of 75 pounds or more is regularly required. Required to perform heavy physical labor.
